Thursday 9th October saw the launch of the idir exhibition, G.E.T.1. at New York Foundation for the Arts, in Brooklyn, New York.

The exhibition was curated by David C. Terry, Director of Programs and Curator at NYFA and David also acted as MC on the night.  Speakers included Michael Royce, Executive Director of NYFA; David Donoghue, Irish Ambassador to the U.N.; Fiona McCabe, Vice Consul, Consulate General of Ireland in New York, and Iris Park, Chairperson of idir.  idir performances were by Alison McKenna, Frances Mezzetti and Sinead Cullen, and Eleonore Nicolas.  Hozier, our special guest, performed two songs ‘Take me to church’ and ‘In a Week’.

Thanks to everyone for their support, help and advice in this venture.  In particular thanks to The New York Foundation for the Arts and Culture Ireland.   Also thanks to my family, the other idir artists and their families and supporters who travelled to New York to make the opening event a night to remember.

We had a great attendance at the event as you can see from the photographs below.

If you, or any of your friends, are in New York over the coming months, do take the opportunity to visit the show which runs until the 30th January, 2015.  You can find all the details on

idir Exhibition at New York Foundation for the Arts, opening 9th October, 2014.

Over the past year I have been working with twenty six artists who met at the 2013 NYFA Bootcamp in Dublin. This training event was organised by the Centre for Creative Practice, Dublin.

G.E.T.1, idir's first exhibition, curated by David C. Terry,   NYFA’s Director of Programs/Curator, opens on next Thursday October 9th, from 6 - 9 p.m. at New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) 20 Jay Street, Suite 740, Brooklyn, NY 11201.  The exhibition runs until the 30th January, 2015.

The painting of mine selected by David C. Terry is shown below.

This exhibition promises to be a really exciting mix of painting, film and performance. If you have any friends  or colleagues in New York who might like to come along to the opening reception they are most welcome. The exhibition runs until the 30th January, and all the details for arranging your visit can be found on
